Search “mixed model” in Korea and you’ll often see celebrity or kids content. Search “foreign model” and agency lists dominate. Inside real brand briefs, though, the two labels get mixed all the time.
From the inquiries I get, “mixed model” usually means the brand wants a Korean mood and a global impression at once. “Foreign model” usually means a clearly non-Korean visual fits the product story. As a Korean-Canadian mixed model, I land in both buckets — beauty and lifestyle often come through the mixed angle; some fashion or global campaigns come through the foreign-model category.
When you write a brief, visual keywords help more than nationality labels alone: soft Korean mood, international-city feel, lighter eyes, East–West mid tone, and so on. That makes it easier for a freelance model to pull the right portfolio frames.
Working as a mixed foreign freelance model, I’ve learned that casting is decided less by the category name and more by the face the brand wants customers to meet. One clear sentence about that speeds everything up.
